It is our general policy to keep our customers information as private as possible. We do not, for example, share or sell email addresses. SolarFlairLighting.com, our credit card processor and the website host never share any information without your provision unless required to do so by law.

There are occasions where we may contact you asking permission to share limited information:

1. We ask You to Serve as a Reference to a Potential Customer.
   If we receive requests for customer references, we refer them to our Testimonial Page. If they want to speak with a customer who purchased the product they wish to buy, we may contact you by phone or email to ask if you are comfortable serving as a reference.
   
   If you are comfortable, we will provide whatever information you wish. For example, some people like to provide work phone numbers, others prefer to exchange email addresses. We respect all wishes of customers who do not want any personal information available or who do not wish to serve as a reference.
   
   
2. A Manufacturer Wishes to Discuss a Product Issue
   In rare occasions, customers have issues with the products they buy. Usually any issues are noted when the product is delivered, other times they occur after the product has been in use and often for several months or more.
   
   If you call regarding a defective product, the manufacturer may wish to discuss the matter with you directly. We then contact you by phone or mail to see what, if any, information you wish to provide.
   
   Many products include registration cards with the product instructions. These should always be completed and returned to the manufacturer. In these events, the manufacturer may contact you directly and then ask us to provide additional information such as the date of the original purchase, the date of actual delivery, our distributor, or other similar questions. We ask that regardless of any cards that you send to the manufacturer, that you let us know if you are contacting them regarding a warranty claim so that we can assist you. We need your permission to provide certain information; we do not know what information you may or may not have already provided to them.
   
   
3. Legal Investigations
   If we are contacted by either a recognized legal authority (municipal or county police, state police, or federal agency) regarding purchases or activity on our site, we will provide information as legally necessary.
   
   This would happen if your credit card were to be used or attempted to be used on our site without your consent. All payment transactions are subject to risk management/fraud protection measures by the respective processors and by our internal review. If we have a suspicious transaction, we report it to our processor so that they can contact the appropriate credit card company who should then notify the legitimate card holder immediately.

The information that you provide to either create an account or make a purchase on our site is protected at all points of the purchase process. Information relating to financial data is never stored on our website nor on our web host.

Any information you provide you may access and modify later, or remove it from our system by deleting your customer account. Our company has been passed an audit for compliance with the 'Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard,' which is a set of security requirements created by the Payment Card Industry. The standards outline strict guidelines specifying what Merchants must do to protect the privacy of customer information. This includes measures to protect any information you provide to us over the internet, as well as physical measures we take to physically safeguard any data that we need to keep for tax records. This information is basically limited to invoices, which we store in a locked fireproof file cabinet in a building with a security system.

The PCI Council requires that Merchants meet this set of security requirements if their business accepts, transmits, or processes customer payment cards (such as credit cards or debit cards). Our secure checkout also meets or exceeds industry standards for encryption so that you can buy with confidence, knowing your private information and payment information is secure. We do not see your credit card number or your security code.
